Well this is it, our last visit to Skyway and Notre Dame. it is a bitter sweet moment haha .So for our last visit in this area we wanted to go somewhere new. My group and I decided on going into Home Depot. This was a store that we did not visit here yet so we knew this was the perfect time to go. Coming into Home Depot I got excited right away because they had lots and lots and Christmas decorations and I LOVE Christmas with a passion lol. I got distracted right away with all of the decorations, I went straight to look at the different types of Christmas trees with colorful lights.
Being inside Home Depot it felt the way it always feels, surrounded by males. Lots of men come and hop here more than females. When I was here with my group I looked around and noticed that I was surrounded by males, it did make me feel a bit left out since I am a female myself. My group noticed this too so I wasn't the only one who felt this way. Many of the workers here were males as well. I can honestly say that I saw one female worker at my visit here. This does make me a bit sad because this is not something that onlly hsppens in the Home Depot in Chico, but rather in every single one that I have been to .
So we walked around and got to see what else they had here. They had lots of housing supplies just as any other Home Depot would. This wasn't really anything new besides the type of race I saw the most here. The answer is white people. Being surrounded by only white people and males did make me uncomfortsble being here, I felt that certain men would look at me in a way that made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable so I tried to leave as soon as we could. Although this happened during my visit, I still enjoyed my experience since I was with my girls and we had a good time there.
After visiting the shopping center in Skyway and Notre Dame I can see myself coming here to only certain stores. I would come to eat at McDonald's since I loved food, shop at Ross to get some cute clothes, and also shop at TJ Maxx to get cute items from clothes to makeup. The places I do not see myself coming to is Raleys' and Home Depot because I felt more out of place with the people who surrounded me, unlike when I went to stores such as Ross and TJ Maxx. Overall this was a great experience and I am glad that I got to do it with my girl friends because we shared lots of laughs being here together and we made the most of it while we could.
