Picking a popular place that many people go to in Chico was not as difficult as I thought it was. After looking around I chose to go to Celestino's New York Pizza. This pizza place is just across the street from campus on Salem Street. I chose to go here because I knew that since it was a place so close to campus many people especially from Chico State would be going here pretty often. I had heard good things about the pizza. This also influenced my decision on going here for my visit. So with me I took my friend Neetha. She and I decided to go on a Thursday afternoon after we had been done with classes for t he day. We were really hungry so this was a perfect time to go.
Once we arrived we notcied that not only students from campus come here, but also many people from Chico that live nearby. At Celestino's they have a student discount meal. It comes with a drink, a slice of any pizza flavor that you want, and a dipping sauce for just five bucks !! I thought it was a great deal so that is what both my friend and I decided on getting. At first the pizza looked too greasy for me but once I took a bite the sauce was rich in flavor and the crust was so thing and soft. I really loved it. To me, it was worth my five bucks.This is a great deal to have due to the fact of how many students from campus come and eat here.
While being here I got the chance to talk to a student from Chico State. And so I asked her, Do you come here pretty often ? She said she is a first time freshman here so she has not been coming for years now but she did say that she has been coming on weekends whenever she gets a pizza craving with her friends or boyfriend. What she likes about Celestino's is how it is so close to campus so it is easy to get to, how they have a student discount meal, and the pizza itself. She described it as excellent New York style pizza with the sauce and cheese being exquisite.
This pizza was quite different than any other pizza that I have had back at home because I never had "New York Style Pizza" but I am glad that I tried because it was something new for me that I liked. I can see myself coming here whenever I am hungry and don't feel like taking much of a walk to get food. I hope that I can keep going to new places in Chico so that I can familiarize myself with what I have around me here while attending Chico State. All together I enjoyed coming here and getting to try this pizza with my close friend Neetha.
